(23:16) GILROY – Even though the drought has caused a variety of issues for many agricultural crops, it’s been a good year for garlic….and that’s important with the Gilroy Garlic Festival coming up this weekend. Each year garlic festival visitors consume more than 2 tons of fresh garlic from Gilroy’s own Christopher Ranch. Since the event was founded back in 1979, the 3-day event has been hosted by thousands of community volunteers, who have raised nearly 11 million dollars for local schools, charities, and non-profit organizations. The festival is scheduled to be held from 10 a-m to 7 p-m this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in Christmas Hill Park in Gilroy.
