According to a new report released this week, Dominican Hospital was rated amongst the best hospitals for encouraging mothers to breast-feed their babies. The hospital rated 7th statewide with 87% of mothers breast-feeding their babies in 2009 without any supplemental formula while in the hospital, up from 67% in 2004. Watsonville Community Hospital rated 57% up from 48% in 2009. Research shows that breast-feeding reduces a child’s risk of infection and obesity.
