EARLY RELEASE FOR PRISONERS 05-04-21A 10:33 S.S.

Under court orders, California must reduce the numbers of inmates in state prisons, and that means releasing prisoners who normally would remain in the system for longer. Part of Proposition 57, which voters approved in 2016, requires the state to reduce the level of saturation in prisons. Although the original intent of the proposition was to emphasize rehabilitation and trim the prison population in California, the reality is that some repeated felons and some violent offenders are expected to be release back into society. The new rules went into effect May 1st.
