A Disciplinary Hearing is being held for a U.C.S.C. Professor. Gopal Balakrishnan, who taught a class called the History Of Consciousness, has been on paid leave since the Fall of 2017, when he was accused of inappropriate behavior. Last September, university staff concluded that Balakrishnan violated the college’s Title 9 Policy. They also determined that he violated Faculty Policy, by drinking (and doing drugs with) students. Allegations about his inappropriate activity with students cropped up shortly after Balakrishnan started teaching at U.C.S.C.
