Salinas Man Found Guilty in Cop Assault 4-24-19 1500 DC

KION Television reports that a Salinas man was found guilty of assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer, evading a peace officer and filing a false report of vehicle theft.

It was August 21, 2017, when a Salinas police officer attempted to stop a car for running a stop sign. 44-year-old Arnulfo Bravo, 34, was driving sped up rather than stopping.

That led to a chase that was eventually called off when it became dangerous to pursue Bravo.

A second officer found Bravo shortly after that chase. He turned into an apartment complex that had a closed gate. Bravo tried to run down that officer and later attempted to report his car as stolen, but the officer he tried to hit recognized him when Bravo attempted to file the false report.

Bravo faces a maximum of 5 years and 8 months in prison. He will be sentenced in May.
