SBHS – Bans Styrofoam 02/20/19A 11:07 S.S.

Styrofoam  foodware  has  been  banned  on  the  campus  of  San  Benito  High  School.    Polystyrene  can  contain  such  chemicals  as  styrene  and  benzene,  which  (when  heated)  can  release  those  neuro-toxins.     School  Board  members  further  say  that  styrofoam  is  expensive,  and  difficult,  to  recycle.

Although  the  cafeteria  used  to  use  styrofoam  cups  and  bowls,  they  now use  compostable  paper  goods  (for  all  of  the  food,  and  beverages,  they  serve).
