Measure G Helps Projected SC County Deficit 12-14-18 05:40 DC

Money raised by Measure G, a tax approved by Santa Cruz County voters in November, is expected to stave off a budget crisis – provided the economy doesn’t tank. That was the word from county officials at a budget meeting earlier this week.

Measure G is a half-cent sales tax increase that is expected to raise an additional $5.6 million annually for 12 years. County officials say that money will bring the budget closer to balance, reducing projected deficits from as much as $9-million to as little as $1-million annually out to 2025.
