Dr. Joel Wallach

A biomedical research pioneer, Dr. Joel D. Wallach spent more than 40 years in the field of Veterinary Medicine, observing and researching the effects of individual nutrients on animal health, before becoming a Naturopathic Physician in 1982. Today, Dr. Wallach is renowned for his groundbreaking research on the health benefits of selenium and other minerals. He currently dedicates his time to lecturing throughout the world on the therapeutic benefits of vitamins and minerals, and on lobbying the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on behalf of the dietary supplement industry.

Dr. Wallach has been appearing recently with George Noory on Coast to Coast AM.

Dr. Joel Wallach begins the show discussing epigenetics. Stating that epigenetics was first recognized back in the 1940s. Stating that his "Epigenetics" book outlines this newer science. Contending that prior to this most health challenges were thought to be caused by genetics.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a study that found eating a plant-based diet lowered the risk of type 2 diabetes by 23%. Researchers at the results of nine trials that looked at the effects of a plant-based diet on type 2 diabetes. The study involved over 300,000 participants ages 36 to 65 who filled out food diaries. During the study 23,544 participants developed type 2 diabetes. After reviewing their diets they found that the plant-based diet reduced the risk of diabetes by 23%.

Finding that cardiomyopathy heart attacks are due to nutritional deficiencies. In an area in China where these were occurring at an alarming rate. Stating that people who are obese, or have type 2 diabetes or heart disease will be at greater risk of a negative outcome should they contract covid 19. Contending people with these conditions could die if they get the virus. Comparing the covid numbers between England and India as well as the numbers between Italy and Thailand. Stating the difference between the numbers is because of the diffence between diets of these countries.

The study found that people who took vitamin C supplements were less likely to die from sepsis than those who got a placebo. During the study those on the placebo had 46% mortality rate. While those in the vitamin C group had a 30% mortality rate. The vitamin C group had shorter hospital stays.
