Dr. Joel Wallach

A biomedical research pioneer, Dr. Joel D. Wallach spent more than 40 years in the field of Veterinary Medicine, observing and researching the effects of individual nutrients on animal health, before becoming a Naturopathic Physician in 1982. Today, Dr. Wallach is renowned for his groundbreaking research on the health benefits of selenium and other minerals. He currently dedicates his time to lecturing throughout the world on the therapeutic benefits of vitamins and minerals, and on lobbying the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on behalf of the dietary supplement industry.

Dr. Wallach has been appearing recently with George Noory on Coast to Coast AM.

Dr. Joel Wallach begins the show today discussing "do-it-yourself" healthcare. Citing several health tests that can be done safely and effectively at home. Also outlining many failed medical theories that have lead to Americans being some of the sickest in the world. Pointing out that a government report has stated that most Americans are minerally deficient.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a study that many U.S. cancer patients can afford their cancer medications. Researchers analyzed health surveys in 2011 through 2014 comparing cancer patients to other patients without a history of cancer. Finding that cancer patients were more likely to change medications for financial reasons. When compared to patients without a history of cancer.

Contending that if people had the right diets and supplemented with vitamins and minerals they could become disease free. Stating that his mission is to educate people and create disease free communities.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a couple of news stories. The first is a report out from the Alzheimer's Association that states the number of Alzheimer's deaths has nearly doubled in just the past 15 years. The cost of treating Alzheimer's is expected to increase from $259 billion annually at present to $1.1 trillion by 2050. Second they discuss a news story on statin drugs where a pharmaceutical analyst states that statin sales have increase significantly in the past 10 years. Doc links the together stating that the brain is made up of mostly cholesterol. Contending that statin drug use is the cause of Alzheimer's.

Things like smoking and foods that are full of free radicals. Stating that if people consume more that 100,000 free radicals daily cancer can be avoided.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article about a study from Tufts University. Researchers found that in 2012 there were 700,000 deaths from heart disease, strokes and diabetes. Finding that 10 ingredients combined contributed to about 45% of those deaths. Outlining two groups of foods "good" foods such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, seeds, nuts, polyunsaturated fats found in oils and omega 3 fatty acids from oily fish. The "bad" foods included red meat, processed meats, sugary drinks and salt are to be limited if not completely avoided.
