Dr. Joel Wallach begins the show discussing his “Epigenetics” book. Stating that the term was coined in 1940 by Dr. Conrad Wattington. Describing an interview he did with Dr. Bruce Lipton. Contending that interview will be available to the public within a few weeks. Asserting that he and Dr. Lipton are considered to be the fathers of the science.

Pearls of Wisdom

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article regarding a study from Canada. The study found that pregnant women who take antidepressants are at greater risk of developing gestational diabetes. The CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention states that two to 10 percent of pregnancies in the U.S. are affected by gestational diabetes each year. Blood sugar levels go back to normal after giving birth with about 50% of women with the condition go on to develop type 2 diabetes. Pregnant women who took antidepressants had a 19% increased risk of gestational diabetes. While those taking venlafaxine or amitriptyline increased their risk 27% and 52% respectively.
