Asserting that recent government statistics show that medical mistakes are now the third leading cause of death in the U.S.

Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article concerning a study of gut inflammation. Using lab equipment that simulates a human intestinal tract complete with gut bacteria. Researchers then added emulsifiers that are commonly added to processed foods to extend shelf life. Then noting a dramatic increase in a marker of gut inflammation.
Then gave the emulsifiers to mice which developed gut inflammation. This inflammation can lead to chronic conditions like obesity, high blood sugar and insulin resistance.
