Stating that he and his wife Dr. Ma Lan did thousands of autopsies of children in China who died from this disease. Contending that this is due to a deficiency of a single mineral. Contending that once electricity was commonly used to heat and cook people stopped burning wood. Asserting that previously people put wood ash that was full of minerals in their gardens. The plants then sucked up the minerals and when people ate the plants they got minerals. Stating that most health challenges of today are due to mineral deficiencies.

Group two got a drink with the equivalent of table sugar. Group three received a drink with sucralose and a carbohydrate called maltodextrin. The result was that group three experienced a decrease in insulin sensitivity. Groups one and two had no adverse health effects.
