On It's A Question Of Balance with Ruth Copland this Saturday (7th June) at 8 PM we'll be considering 'Should hate be criminalised?'. Is a crime a crime no matter the motivation and thus all crimes should be treated equally in terms of severity of punishment? Do we need to monitor hate-motivated crimes and if so, is criminalizing hate the best way to do this? What do you think? Call the studio with your thoughts on 831 479 1080 8-9 PM on Saturday evening or email comments to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. MEASURES IN THE TRI-COUNTY AREA - 06/04/14 04:30 TL

THE SANTA CRUZCOUNTY ELECTIONS HAVE TAKEN SHAPE IN DETERMINING THE OUTCOME OF THE COUNTY MEASURES.    EVERY MEASURE IN THE COUNTY RECEIVED ENOUGH VOTES TO BE PASSED AND BROUGHT FORWARD.

IN THE MONTEREY COUNTY ELECTIONS, THE MEASURES ON THE BALLOT INCLUDED  N AND O.    NEITHER OF THE MEASURES WERE ABLE TO RECEIVE ENOUGH VOTES IN ORDER TO BE PASSED…..THIS INCLUDED THE GONZALES UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT BOND ISSUE, AND THE MEASURE ON PUBLIC OWNERSHIP OF THE DISTRICT WATER SYSTEM (WHICH IS CURRENTLY OWNED BY CAL-AM).

IN SAN BENITOCOUNTY,  THERE WERE TWO MEASURES, F AND G THAT WERE VOTED ON IN YESTERDAYS ELECTION. MEASURE F WHICH INCLUDED THE RENEWAL OF A VEHICLE LISCENSE FEE RECEIVED MORE THAN THE MAJORITY IN ORDER TO BE PASSED.    MEASURE G, RECEIVED MORE THAN 56 % OF THE VOTES (BUT THAT DID NOT INCLUDE SOME VOTERS IN SANTA CLARACOUNTY).     THOSE RESIDENTS VOTED 66% AGAINST,  SO THE OVERALL STANDING OF THE MEASURE HAS YET TO BE DETERMINED.
