A Seaside man has pleaded “No Contest” to killing his mother and stabbing his brother. 28 year-old Andrew Zapanta was reportedly high on methamphetamine in March of 2016 when he grabbed 2 kitchen knives and started to slash at himself. His mother and brother tried to get the knives away from him, and he stabbed his mother and slashed at his brother. When law enforcement officers arrived, Zapanta was kneeling over his dead mother, asking for help. Zapanta, who faces 20 years-to-life in prison, is scheduled to return to a Monterey county courtroom April 12th for his sentencing.
