A Monterey County emergency shelter will soon take in pets escaping from domestic violence. The YWCA, which typically houses domestic abuse victims, plans to add on-site kennels to their shelter. The addition will aim to reach out to women who fear leaving violent households when their abusers threaten to injure or kill their pets. The YWCA will be raising funds for the kennels over the next few months. For more information or to donate, visit ywcamc.org.
