Watsonville police are trying to get the word out to area-residents, that the department is offering a new alert-service. By signing up for the nixle alert system, residents receive text messages and emails, if there is an emergency situation. The police department sent its first nixle alert last Thursday, when a plane crashed into a building near Watsonville Community Hospital. The Santa cruz and scotts valley police departments offer the nixle service. More information is available on the departments’ websites.
