Officials at Watsonville Community Hospital announced today that tentative deals were agreed upon for the hospital’s technicians and maintenance staff. Officials say the 3-year contract agreements with Service Employees International Union Healthcare Workers-West, must be ratified in the 2 bargaining units. The new agreements follow prior talks with management in mid-December, a picket by hospital nurse on December 23rd and a walk out by nurses for one day in October before they were locked out for another 2 days. According to nurses, staffing levels are at the heart of the hospital’s dispute.
