A plan to raise parking fines in the city of Watsonville was approved Tuesday. Fines will now be raised to $47, and will be given to those who park their cars over the 2-hour maximum or who leave their car in a no parking zone. Those that park illegally in a handicapped spot can be expected to pay a $299 fine. The parking violation hike is an effort to offset a recent increase in the surcharges state lawmakers take from the city’s parking ticket revenue.
