Watsonville city council members approved 3-million dollars in redevelopment money. Last night’s decision was made while a vote to continue state funding for redevelopment agencies is still pending. Officials say this may be the last time the city will be able to take advantage of the taxes collected by the redevelopment agency. The council allocated the money towards low-income housing renovation, revamping the city’s general plan and planned business park on the city west side.
