A redevelopment proposal by Watsonville city leaders has been rejected by the state department of finance. The plan for spending 2-point-7 million dollars in former redevelopment funding was rejected because the contracts were made after last year’s deadline to spend the money. Watsonville city leaders plan to appeal the decision. Much of the funding would have been used for street lighting, solar and water projects.
