A watsonville man was sentenced today to 12-years-and eight months in prison, for a violent incident that took place last year. 33-year-old thomas henry silva was given the sentence after being convicted of assaulting a former girlfriend, and holding her against her will. the sentence was lengthened because of prior convictions, and for repeatedly violating parole terms. silva was also fined $9,600.
