Representatives for the transit district of the city of Watsonville have denied a legal claim that was filed against the district and a bus driver. The family of 79-year-old Salvador lopez chipres filed the claim, after chipres was fatally struck by a city bus last year. he was hit as he crossed the street near the metro center on Rodriguez street. the bus driver, 57-year-old mary ellen miller, was determined to be at fault. The family is seeking nearly 500-thousand dollars to cover medical and funeral costs. Lawyers for the transit district filed papers last week denying the claim. The case is set to continue on February 15th.
