U.C.S.C. scientists are working on technology to detect wildfire risk. Scientists with the Baskin School Of Engineering have named the new technology P.A.N.T.H.E.R….which stands for Persistent autonomous Monitoring for Timely Detection of Wildfires. Once they are done testing the system on campus, they plan to run a network of the sensors underground in the Soquel Demonstration Forest, where it can be tested “real time”.
