Due to several Salinas 5th graders coming down with Pertussis in recent weeks, school officials are trying to work with parents to keep everyone informed. 4 students at Monterey Park School have been diagnosed with Whooping Cough in less than a month. A local pediatrician has said that it can be difficult initially to differentiate between Whooping Cough and a common cold, although any vomiting, seizures, and blueness to the face are possible symptoms of Whooping Cough, as is the iconic cough for which the disease is known.
