This week with Valentine’s Day upcoming I’m thinking about what love is and how we think about it today. In the USA, Valentine’s Day is not just associated with romantic love as it is in Britain, but also with familial love and friends. In the English language we only have one word for love whereas the Greeks had 30! so for Out and About I ask people on the street whether they feel it would be a good idea to have more words for love. Love has become such an commonly used and overly used word, it’s meaning has definitely changed over recent decades if not actually been degraded by its use to say ‘we love’ the latest TV show or new ice cream flavour. So I am interested to hear people’s thoughts on whether more words for love would be useful. Join me Saturday 11th February 8-9 PM to hear my conversations and decide what you think!
In Out And About we consider topics with local relevance and global significance. The idea is to get us thinking about the questions that affect us all – to stimulate new thinking, or clarify what we already feel. To hear how other people’s opinions may differ from or be similar to our own. For more info on the show visit It’s A Question of Balance
