Weekend voting will be available in Santa Cruz and Watsonville this weekend. The Santa Cruz County Clerk/Elections Department, and the Watsonville City Clerk’s Office will be open for voting from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. both this Saturday and Sunday (June 2nd and 3rd).
Due to a new California rule, voters who missed the voter registration deadline in may, can still register and vote….up to (and including on) Election Day itself. Voters who choose that route can vote at the Santa Cruz County Elections Office, Watsonville Civic Plaza, and the U.C.S.C. Bay Tree Conference Center. (U.C.S.C. is open for voting from Saturday to Tuesday only).
Santa Cruz County voters who have obtained a vote-by-mail ballot for the June 5 Primary Election may return their ballot to any polling place in the State of California no later than 8pm, Tuesday, June 5. Ballots may also be dropped off at one of several drop boxes in the county available 24/7 up to 8pm Tuesday, June 5. Drop box locations are:
- 701 Ocean Street, Santa Cruz, in front of the County Government Center
- 212 Church Street, Santa Cruz, public parking lot
- 1 Civic Center Drive, Scotts Valley City Hall parking lot
- 420 Capitola Avenue, Capitola City Hall parking lot
- 316 Rodriguez Street, Watsonville public parking lot 14
- UCSC Quarry Plaza, next to the Bookstore
- Cabrillo College parking lot R near the stadium
- Felton Covered Bridge Park, Mt. Hermon and Graham Hill roads
As of today, more than 94,800 vote-by-mail ballots have been issued to voters in the June 5 Election, and just over 12,412 have been returned.
Postage is paid for voters who are returning their ballot by mail. Ballots postmarked on or before Tuesday, June 5, and received by the elections official by the third day after the election will be considered received on time. However, voters should be aware that mail delivery is taking anywhere from 3 to 10 days, so voters are encouraged to mail their ballots no later than Thursday, May 31.
Voters may also drop off their voted ballot at either the Santa Cruz County Clerk/Elections Department or the City Clerk’s Office in Watsonville, Santa Cruz, Capitola, or Scotts Valley.
