THE WEEKEND WAS PLEASANT WITH SUNNY SKIES FOR BEACH-GOERS AROUND THE CENTRAL COAST. THE STATE LIFEGUARDS WERE PARTICULARLY BUSY AT SOUTH COUNTY LOCATIONS. LIFEGUARD CREWS HELPED TO RESCUE A DISABLED POWERBOAT WITH A BROKEN ENGINE, AT PALM BEACH STATE PARK IN WATSONVILLE. TWO RESCUE SWIMMERS, WITH THE AID OF A STATE PARKS WATER CRAFT, HELPED TO GET THE BOAT OUTSIDE THE SURF LINE. THE U. S. COAST GUARD THEN TOWED IT TO A HARBOR. THERE WERE NO INJURIES REPORTED. THERE WERE ALSO RESCUES AT MANRESA STATE BEACH, WHERE A TOTAL OF EIGHT PEOPLE, INCLUDING SWIMMERS AND BODY-BOARDERS, WERE SAFELY GUIDED TO SHORE.
