A 33 YEAR-OLD WATSONVILLE WOMAN AGREED TO A PLEA BARGAIN THAT MEANS SHE’LL BE SENTENCED TO SPEND 2 YEARS IN COUNTY JAIL….AND JUST UNDER THAN UNDER MANDATORY COMMUNITY SUPERVISION. YOLANDA MARIE ESPINOSA GOT HER SENTENCING DELAYED UNTIL AFTER THE NEW SENTENCING RULES WENT INTO EFFECT…IN HOPES THAT SHE WOULD BE SENTENCED TO COUNTY JAIL, INSTEAD OF STATE PRISON….AND IT WORKED. SHE PLEADED “NO CONTEST” TO RECEIVING STOLEN PROPERTY, COMMITTING FORGERY, AND BEING AN ACTIVE PARTICIPANT IN A STREET GANG.
Under the terms of Espinosa’s sentencing, she WILL ALSO HAVE TO register as a gang member, AND SHE WON’T BE ALLOWED TO possess stolen property, or any sort of forgery instruments.
