Governor Jerry Brown has appointed Watsonville’s mayor to the Central Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board. 34-year-old Karina Cervantez received her master’s degree from UCSC and was elected to the Watsonville City Council in 2012. The Senate still needs to approve the water board position and compensation would be $100 per day.
