Watsonville Police discovered that a group of kids were behind recent incidents where Watsonville Municipal Airport pilots reported they were struck by laser beams while in flight. Police told reporters that the kids thought it would be funny.
Officers say they talked with the kids and their parents, and that the kids quickly understood the seriousness of their actions and apologized.
It is a federal crime to aim a laser at a plane in-flight.
