a budget for the city of watsonville has been approved by the city council. the approved budget fills a 1.9-million dollar deficit for the 2011-2012 fiscal year. also approved was 4-million dollars in redevelopment projects, funding that is still uncertain as the state looks to eliminate redevelopment agencies. watsonville is one of the first cities in the bay area to pass a balanced budget.
