(07:25) Santa Cruz County – The California Department of Public Health is warning consumers not to eat recreationally harvested bivalve shellfish from Santa Cruz and Monterey Counties. Dangerous levels of paralytic shellfish poisoning toxins have been detected in mussels. The naturally occurring toxins can cause illness or death in humans. This warning does not apply to commercially sold clams, mussels, scallops or oysters from approved sources. For more information visit: cdph.ca.gov.
