A NEARLY 1 MILLION DOLLAR LAWSUIT HAS BEEN FILED AGAINST 3 GROUPS CONNECTED WITH A WAREHOUSE EXPLOSION THAT OCCURRED IN SALINAS LAST YEAR . THE CITY OF SALINAS AND THE COUNTY OF MONTEREY HAVE FILED THE SUIT TO TRY AND RECOVER THE FUNDS THEY PUT INTO CLEANING-UP AFTER the DAYTON STREET INCIDENT.
That’s because the explosion caused a toxic discharge into a nearby storm drain. From there the toxic liquid is said to have flowed from the storm drain into a 4-mile long reclamation ditch, killing 16 hundred fish (and thousands of worms).
