The Santa Cruz City Council gave the go-ahead for a 19-unit co-housing project yesterday. The community, which will be known as Walnut Commons will be built downtown on the corner of Walnut Avenue and Center Street. It will be nearly 14,000 square foot, with units ranging from 1 to 3 bedrooms. Almost half of the complex will feature common or open spaces. The total cost of the project will be $8.4 million, and will be done in a Spanish Mediterranean style. This is the second community of this kind built in Santa Cruz.
