The 9th annual waam/fest is set to be held tomorrow, in santa cruz’s san Lorenzo park. The event is held by the wo/men’s alliance for medical marijuana, and is designed to thank the city of santa cruz for its support, and promote the benefits of medical marijuana. The noon to 5 p.m. event is set to feature music, food, and vendors, as well as voter registration booths, and opportunities to write letters to federal officials. The federal government has made another recent push to shutter medical marijuana dispensaries. d.e.a. agents raided w.a.m.m.’s collective in 2002, prompting a lawsuit, which was supported by the city of santa cruz. the suit was dropped in 2010, after the obama administration indicated it would relax its stance.
