the watsonville city council unanimously approved a plan to hire a contractor to install solar panels on 4 city buildings. panels are set to be installed on city hall, the municipal service center, the materials recovery facility, and the water resource center. the project is expected to save the city over 8-million dollars over a 25-year period. installation of the panels is scheduled to begin in early 2012.
