A Watsonville police officer, who’s been diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s disease, announced his retirement last week. Officer Skip Prigge retired Friday from the Watsonville Police Department after being diagnosed with the incurable disease last month. Prigge, who’s been hailed by the department’s chief, Manny Solano, as an incredible contribution to the Watsonville Community, received numerous awards during his time with the department, including the Combat Cross Award. Watsonville officers are expected to honor Prigge on Sunday.
