A Watsonville man has been arrested on car theft and weapons charges.
Auto theft task-force officers served a search warrant at a residence on Lily Way in the unincorporated area outside of Watsonville this morning in order to search for a stolen vehicle believed to be located at that property. Officers located the stolen vehicle on the property and detained a 49-year-old Watsonville man, Jason Jessee.
While serving the warrant, officers located an what they described as an illegally configured and unregistered assault rifle. The suspect was arrested on charges of vehicle theft and illegal weapon possession.
The task-force known as S.C.A.R.E. (Santa Cruz County Auto Theft Reductions and Enforcement) is a CHP led task-force which consists of multiple law enforcement agencies working together in the county including the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office, Watsonville Police Department, and the Santa Cruz County District Attorney’s office.
