A Watsonville bar has been ordered to reduce its hours and hire security guards. Watsonville planning commissioners announced those requirements at their meeting tuesday. The restrictions will force the villager bar to close its doors at 11 p.m. on most nights, and at midnight on Friday and Saturday. The business in the east lake avenue shopping center must also have licensed security guards on duty on Friday and Saturday. The move to reduce the hours at the villager was made because city planning commissioners said there had been an increase in violent activity at the establishment, and because the bar’s owners had not readily complied with requirements from the police department.
