TWO MEN, CHARGED WITH VEHICULAR MANSLAUGHTER OF A YOUNG MAN LAST YEAR, ARE DUE TO RETURN TO COURT IN SANTA CRUZ TO FACE A JURY TRIAL. 20 YEAR OLD ISMAEL TORRES, III OF SAN JOSE AND 19 YEAR OLD ALEJANDRO MIGUEL CAMACHO, OF WATSONVILLE, ARE DUE BACK FOR A SECOND ARRAIGNMENT ON NOVEMBER 25TH.THE VICTIM, 17 YEAR OLD JUAN JERONIMO, OF WATSONVILLE, WAS A PASSENGER IN A HONDA DRIVEN BY TORRES. AT ABOUT 8:40 P-M ON THE NIGHT OF DECEMBER 12TH 2012, TORRES BECAME ENGAGED IN A STREET RACE WITH CAMACHO AS THEY WERE DRIVING EAST ONSOUTH GREEN VALLEY ROAD. TORRES WAS SPEEDING NEAR MAGNOLIA DRIVE WHEN HE LOST CONTROL OF HIS VEHICLE, CROSSED A SET OF DOUBLE LINES AND SLAMMED INTO A TREE. JERONIMO SUFFERED FATAL INJURIES AS A RESULT OF THE IMPACT AND WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD AT THE SCENE. TORRES RECEIVED NON-LIFE THREATENING INJURIES. THE TWO DRIVERS ALLEGEDLY POSTED BAIL AFTER THEIR ARRESTS.
