UC Santa Cruz has selected Lodi Native Ron DuBois to take over coaching the school’s NCAA men’s basketball team. The 35-year-old and will be relocating from Memphis, Tennesee with his wife, their 1 ½-year-old son, and another son on the way. DuBois has held a number of positions as head and assistant coach in many cities nationally and internationally. He also served as video coordinator for the Phoenix Suns. DuBois’ level and range of experience helped him to beat out more than 70 other applicants for the job. DuBois will replace 59-year-old Gordon Johnson, who coached the team for 10 seasons. Johnson left the position in June to spend more time with his family.
