Santa Cruz Sheriff’s Deputies are continuing undercover decoy operations aimed at businesses that illegally sell alcohol and/or tobacco products to minors.
On January 30th, deputies sent an underage decoy into two dozen businesses but found only four willing to sell to the minor.
That’s a lower percentage than in previous decoy operations and a Sheriff’s spokeswoman said the department believes the word is getting out to businesses that violations will result in misdemeanor citations. Legal age for tobacco and alcohol is 21-years-old.
A list of all the targeted businesses – good and bad – is posted at KSCO.com/news.
