The suspicious device found at the 100 block of Bay Street turned out to not be a threat. SCPD officers determined that the 18-inch suspicious pipe with duct tape on both ends with visible wires hanging out of it posed no danger.
At around 11:40 am Wednesday, a pedestrian noticed a strange pipe and called 9-1-1. SCPD Officers and the SC County Sheriff’s Bomb Squad responded to evaluate the device and determined that it was non-destructive.
Police also said there is no evidence to support the device was intended to create alarm.
