Monterey County is now under a shelter-in-place order, joining Santa Cruz, San Benito, and Santa Clara as well as San Francisco, San Mateo, Marin, Contra Costa and Alameda counties in the Bay Area.
The Monterey order, which became effective at midnight today, will continue through at least April 7th. The order does not affect essential government services — services to protect the health, safety and welfare of communities. It also makes provision for the agricultural community and fieldworkers.
