Santa Cruz sheriff’s deputies say that they expect to charge 36-year-old Patrick Collins of Aptos with murder in connection with the Wednesday afternoon shooting and stabbing of two people at a residence off Trout Gulch Rd.
Sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. Dee Baldwin said Collins has been released from the hospital and will be jailed in Santa Cruz. The identities of the dead woman and injured man have not been released.
The man remained hospitalized Thursday with non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators remained at the scene Thursday and say they have spoken to both the suspect and the injured man.
Police say all three subjects – including the dead woman – lived at the home where the incident took place. More details are expected to be released later today.
