Governor Jerry Brown signed a bill yesterday (Thursday) that declares California a “sanctuary state”. This new legislation will serve as a statewide protection for the estimated 2.3 million immigrants living in California illegally. Beginning January 1st police will be barred from inquiring people’s immigration status or participating in most federal immigration enforcement action.
