(UPDATE) June 16, 2015: Five More Suspects Arrested Drug Smuggling Boat

(Updated at 11:30) MONTEREY COUNTY – Five more people have been arrested in connection with the drug-smuggling boat that arrived in Big Sur last week. The boat contained over 100 barrels of marijuana, worth around $18 million. Four suspects were arrested and booked into jail on Friday. Two of them have posted bail. Yesterday, five more were arrested in connection with the smuggling. (M.K.)

(16:50) MONTEREY COUNTY– The Monterey County Sheriff’s department arrested four people early Friday morning. Deputies acting on a reported panga boat coming ashore about 2 a.m. in the Big Sur area stopped a van near the 18 mile marker of Highway 1. The van was full of marijuana and the suspects were booked into county jail. (P.M.D)
