(Updated at 06:53) – A Monterey beach has reopened following a sewage spill. McAbee Beach was closed last Thursday after sewage from El Torito Mexican Restaurant on Cannery Row spilled into surrounding waters. Samples taken from the beach have shown that the water is safe for human contact. (S.G.)

The closure came as a precaution after a Cannery Row restaurant spilled an undetermined amount of sewage into the surrounding waters.
