BOTH LANES OF HIGHWAY 1 NORTHBOUND, NORTH OF THE MORRISSEY BOULEVARD EXIT WERE REOPENED BY 3:30 THIS AFTERNOON. THE HIGHWAY HAD BEEN BLOCKED AFTER A CONCRETE MIXER, CARRYING 30 THOUSAND GALLONS OF WET CONCRETE, ROLLED ONTO ITS SIDE JUST AFTER 9 O’CLOCK THIS MORNING. ALTHOUGH IT DID NOT SPILL ANY OF ITS LOAD IN THE INCIDENT, THE ENTIRE LOAD OF WET CONCRETE HAD TO BE EMPTIED SO THE TRUCK COULD BE RIGHTED AND TOWED AWAY. THE TRUCK’S DRIVER, A 57 YEAR-OLD SOLEDAD MAN, WAS TRAPPED INSIDE FOR A WHILE. HE HAS SINCE BEEN TRANSPORTED TO AN AREA HOSPITAL. NORTHBOUND TRAFFIC WAS DIVERTED OFF HIGHWAY-1 AT MORRISSEY BOULEVARD IN SANTA CRUZ.
