(16:43) DAVENPORT- Highway 1 north of Santa Cruz was closed following a double traffic fatality yesterday (Thurs). The accident took place shortly after 7:30 a.m. near Swanton Road, when a 61 year old San Francisco man southbound in a Ford Econoline van crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with an SUV driven by a 33 year old Watsonville man. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene. Two other victims were hospitalized with sever injuries. The highway was reopened at 1 p.m. following an investigation.
